Le Violette is the perfect place to stay during a visit to Lucca. We found that the B&B offers the perfect mixture of charm, amenities, affordability, location and customer service that we look for when we travel.
Tucked just inside the old city walls and centrally located for a stroll into the main piazza's, Le Violette couldn't be in a better location. It's also a very short walk to the train station and a stone's throw from the medieval city walls, which are one of the featured attractions of Lucca. I would wake up every morning and walk outside the B&B and go for a jog along the walls. It was a great way to see the city. Every afternoon we would leave the hotel and walk directly into town, taking in all the sights and dining options. The place is no more than a 5-10 stroll to all the best restaurants in Lucca.
Every morning, Elizabeth (the proprietor) would set out a wonderful breakfast to start the day. She brought me and my wife our cappuccino with a big smile. She even made decaf for my pregnant wife and foamed a little milk for our daughter. Elizabeth was so wonderful and accommodating. Our daughter was just in love with her.
The place itself if very charming and offers amenities that are useful to the hardcore travelers, like a washer/dryer. We were just in for two days, so we didn't need to use them - but it was nice to see Elizabeth makes them available. Our room was spacious, comfortable and clean. The natural sunlight would come through the large windows and really brighten the room each day.
Lucca itself is absolutely a city worth a visit. It was our first trip to Lucca and we will definitely be back. THANK YOU Le Violotte, Beth and Lucca for a great trip! We WILL definitely be back.
