Biblioteca Bertoliana, Vicenza

The Biblioteca della Riviera Berica began its activity in 1974. Initially, it was located in the basement of the Scuola Media "Scamozzi" in Via Einaudi, in 1986 it was moved in the Urban Centre of District 2, still in the area of S. Croce Bigolina. Since the beginning of 2003 it is located in the wider building that hosted the Scuole Elementari "G. Fogazzaro", in the administrative division of Longara. The "Documentation Centre on Ecology and Environment" (CDEA) was inaugurated at the library on April 20th 1991.
Today it gathers approximately 2.000 items.
The acquisition of full series, some still being output, about hiking, animals, various ecological issues is started.
The magazines are 8, there is the full collection of some headings ( "Cicloturismo", "Airone").
The documentation varies from historical to legal features, from preservation and safeguard to purely hiking domain (also with a cartographic documentation, most of all regional and local), from the collection of data and evidences about pollution to their publication, keeping in mind also different ages, from philosophical classics about environment to practical manuals about daily ecology, to specific monographies on different kind of animals and their habitats. The service provides:

• 3 rooms with 33 seats; - approximately 10.000 books, 24 current periodicals, 2 daily newspapers to refer at the library ("Il Giornale di Vicenza" and "La Gazzetta dello sport"); - children's section, with spaces and furnitures suitable also to younger readers.
  Features of the heritage:
• collection of books on sport: information about sports, methods, regulations, sport medicine, history of sport, biographies of famous sportsmen.
• Literature: fictions and poems in Arabic.
