Vi soggiornarono personaggi illustri a partire da Napoleone I fino a Napoleone III; vi soggiornò più volte, nel periodo prebellico, il Re di Maggio Umberto II con la sua consorte. In tempi recenti, a partire dagli anni '50 venne esclusivamente utilizzata come ristorante e la notorietà fu tale che Mario Soldati la citò in "Viaggio nella Valle del Po".
